They say music brings people together, and that is what the Canadian Music Week (CMW) is all about. The CMW started in 1981 and has become one of Canada’s biggest and most influential media and music conferences. Drawing top industry performers, this week-long event is action-packed to stimulate the exchange of market intelligence and provide networking opportunities. Every year in May, CMW brings together more than 3,000 national and international attendees in Toronto for a week full of industry conferences, cutting-edge trade exhibition, award shows, and electric performances, including one of Canada’s biggest “New Music” festivals.
Recognized as one of the premier entertainment events in North America, CMW offers unique opportunities to several emerging brands to showcase their collection and ‘get spotted’ by the A&R representatives that are there in greater than average numbers. The CMW is also a unique Launchpad for start-ups. The first Startup Launchpad event started in 2016, where start-ups in the music industry participated to pitch their business to potential investors and a judging panel, which includes star-studded names like Michael Wekerle and Ted Cohen. So, whether you’re in the music industry, want to be, or are simply a fan, there will be plenty of reasons for you to attend the CMW in downtown Toronto.
